Report Animal Abuse or Neglect San Francisco Bay Humane Friends |
San Francisco Bay Humane Friends
Founded by Vanessa Getty, member of the Board of Directors of the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA, SFBHF will soon grow to a leadership circle of 10 dedicated animal lovers working to create and fund innovative, life-saving programs for pets at risk throughout the community. The first, life-saving project The first project of the San Francisco Bay Humane Friends literally "hit the road" Autumn 2005 in the form of a 26' long, state-of-the-art mobile animal hospital designed and built to perform sterile spay/neuter surgeries. An exciting expansion of Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA's current Spay/Neuter Clinic, this mobile surgical suite provides services for companion animals of low-income families in San Francisco and San Mateo counties. SFBHF is committed to such creative strategic alliances, combining resources and talents in a way that broadens the reach to help the animals of the Bay Area. SFBHF funded the purchase of this exciting mobile veterinary medical facility, as well as continuing to fund the program costs to make possible free surgeries for people who might otherwise be unable to pay to help their animals. Hurricane animals treated in our new vehicle Though the brand-new, donated mobile animal hospital was designed as a community outreach vehicle for PHS/SPCA, it didn't leave our parking lot for its first official mission. Nevertheless, this first use could not have been more important. During the week of September 26, 2005 our veterinary staff performed spay and neuter surgeries inside our new mobile unit for a number of the Hurricane Katrina animals. To get involved... Gifts of time and money are needed to continue this important work. San Francisco Bay Humane Friends has committed $200,000 per year to establish this program and to keep it up and running. Tax deductible donations should be sent to: San Francisco Bay Humane Friends, c/o Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA, 12 Airport Boulevard, San Mateo, CA 94401. ![]() |
